Throw Momma from the Train

PG-13 1987 | 88 mins | Comedy

A back-stabbing ex-wife, a trash-talking mother and two frustrated shlubs with fantasies of murder... Sounds like the makings of a real thriller until we spill that those potential killers are played by Billy Crystal and Danny DeVito. In this dark comedy, Crystal portrays Larry, a creative writing teacher with writer’s block. DeVito is Owen, one of Larry’s dimwitted students with a plan for the perfect crime: he’ll kill Larry’s ex if Larry murders Owen’s abusive mother, Momma, hands down, one of the nastiest (and funniest) characters you’ll ever see on screen. Her cackling comebacks must have surely inspired the likes of South Park’s Eric Cartman and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Watch this movie, and then thank your mom for not calling you a “stupid poop!”
