The Purple Rose of Cairo

PG 1985 | 82 mins | Romance
Woody Allen has often referred to The Purple Rose of Cairo as his favorite work, and it's easy to see why. Whimsy, romance and good old-fashioned one-liners collide in a Depression-era fantasy that's as much a love letter to the people who love movies as it is to cinema itself. Weary waitress Cecilia sees her favorite film so many times that the movie's lead character actually notices-and literally jumps off the screen to woo her. As Cecilia says, "I just met a wonderful new man. He's fictional, but you can't have everything."
