With a quirk factor registering somewhere between the Royal Tenenbaums and the Addams Family, the proprietors of the Hotel New Hampshire are a strange lot indeed. There's Harvard grad but showman-at-heart patriarch Beau Bridges, incestuous siblings Rob Lowe and Jodie Foster, hard-of-hearing baby brother Seth Green in his very first film role, and Natassja Kinski as a lesbian friend of the family who rarely takes off her bear costume. Not to mention really little sister Lilly (she's a dwarf), family dog Sorrow, who's still part of the family even after his visit to the taxidermist, and a rotating roster of prostitutes, radicals, and a blind guy named Freud. It all comes from the mind of author John Irving, who also gave us The World According to Garp and The Cider House Rules-and no matter how bizarre your upbringing, Irving's eccentric tale will make your family seem positively normal.
