Sex, drugs and team sports - just another tale of growing up in America, right? Leonardo DiCaprio stars as poet and musician Jim Carroll, whose promising youth as a basketball star evaporates in a haze of heroin addiction. Escaping to the streets of New York City to avoid his mother's painful concern, Carroll steals and prostitutes himself to chase his high - all the while struggling to release the artist within.
