Teen Wolf

PG 1985 | 92 mins | Comedy

The whole puberty thing is rough - you're confused about the world around you, your body starts going through major changes, you grow hair on your palms... no, wait, that's werewolf puberty. Such is the adolescent rite of passage for young Scott Howard (Michael J. Fox), whose newfound desire to howl at the moon may not be such a curse after all. Who knew werewolves were inherently gifted basketball stars?

Top 10 Fun Facts

  1. Teen Wolf opened in second place at the box office, behind a little movie called Back to the Future. It's good to be Michael J. Fox!
  2. The movie was actually filmed before Back to the Future, in the same Pasadena neighborhood in Southern California. Scott Howard's house in Teen Wolf is in fact the very same house that served as Marty McFly's mother's house (circa 1955) in Back to the Future. Don't think about it too hard or your brain will explode.
  3. In Italy, the name of Michael J. Fox's character in Teen Wolf was changed to "Marty" to capitalize on the blockbuster success of Back to the Future (wait, it gets better).
  4. Not to be outdone by the Italians, in Brazil the name of the film was changed to O Garoto do Futuro, or "The Boy from the Future." They didn't even bother to put "werewolf" in the title.
  5. Shhh, nobody tell the NCAA: the "Beavers" logo used by Beacon High just so happened to be the same as Oregon State University's.
  6. The 90210 effect: although they play high school students, several of the actors were considerably older: Michael J. Fox, 23; Jerry Levine (Stiles), 27; Mark Holton (Chubby), 26; and Mark Arnold (Mick), 27. Apparently Mid-Twenties Wolf didn't have the same ring to it.
  7. Stiles style: leading the way for a generation of ironic t-shirt wearers, the character Stiles appears in a multitude of clever, colorful tees - including "Life Sucks Then You Die," "Obnoxious: The Movie" and "What Are You Looking At Dicknose." That last one is available online, if you're interested.
  8. Ultimate Stiles fan Greg White, defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, legally changed his name to Stylez G. White in 2008. Wonder what his favorite t-shirt says?
  9. After a cartoon spin-off and a sequel starring Jason Bateman, plans for a second sequel were tossed around, but sadly, never made it to the big screen. Even sadder? Part Three would have starred Alyssa Milano (there, there, dry your eyes).
  10. MTV is rebooting the Teen Wolf franchise with a new TV series that's a little darker and more mythology-based than the original. Move over, Team Jacob: Team Scott is making a comeback.
