Gary Sinise hasn't directed another film since this adaptation of the Steinbeck classic, even though it was nominated for the Palm d'Or at Cannes. Guess he stopped while he was ahead. Sinise stars in the movie as well, teaming up with his friend and Steppenwolf Theater compatriot John Malkovich. As shrewd migrant worker George and his simple cousin Lennie, the pair have so much chemistry it almost feels as though you're intruding on their unbreakable relationship.
