It turns out a laundromat is as good a place as any to fall in love. Omar and Johnny do just that in Thatcher-era London, where the class system rages on and outsiders come in all shapes and sizes. Omar's father wants him to find a young Pakistani wife and go back to college, while Omar isn't sure what he wants-but handsome street tough Johnny is certainly starting to catch his eye. It's a quirky, sweet-natured comedy that captures the co-existence of cultures in any metropolis, with the added bonus of showing us an intimate performance from the actor who would become two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis, some twenty years before he drank anyone's milkshake up.
