Widow Loretta Castorini (Cher) accepts her boyfriend's marriage proposal, and then promptly falls in love with his brother (Nicolas Cage). Seems straightforward enough, until you factor in the power of the full moon. Cher, Olympia Dukakis and screenwriter John Patrick Shanley all took home Oscars for this charmed comedy that's so much more than the four seconds we see in every rom-com montage-although truth be told, Cher's delivery of "snap out of it!" never gets old.
