Merveilleuse Angelique

Angélique seeks refuge at the "Cour des Miracles" (an area of Paris where the dregs of society live) to escape the wrath of those in power after they burned her husband to death for having discovered some rather compromising facts about the Grand Condé plot against Louis XIV. One lover after another is killed by those who fear the disclosure of the secret. She succeeds in opening up a business and finds her cousin Plessis-Bellières, whom she manages to marry in exchange for her secret knowledge about the conspiracy. However she is still threatened by her conspirators.
