Synopsis
The Godfather and The Sopranos may have shaped our view of mob life, but in 1988, director Jonathan Demme created killer comedy in this inventive gangster farce. Michelle Pfeiffer stars as Angela - the unhappy suburban wife of a slimy mid-level hit-man played by Alec Baldwin. But when her hubby double-crosses boss Tony "The Tiger" Russo (Dean Stockwell), Angela is widowed and leaves town to make a new life for herself. Of course, breaking up with the mob is hard to do, especially when a hot-tempered (and married) kingpin wants to date you and a novice FBI agent (Matthew Modine) want to use you as a pawn to catch Tony. Romance, murder and hilarity abound, and wait until you see Mercedes Ruehl in one of the most memorable jealous rampages ever caught on film.
