Mystery based on Agatha Christie novel, starring Sylvia Sidney and John Hodiak. In 1900s London a mysterious South American gentleman sweeps an attractive London sweepstakes winner into marriage after answering her ad to sublet her apartment prior to taking world tour with sweepstake winnings. The newlyweds go off to a secluded cottage in Devonshire, deciding to keep the location a romantic secret. She learns who he really is from a sketch in a magazine article about a notorious wife-killer wanted by the police of two continents.
