Lord of Illusions

Harry D'Amour, a New York P.I., is sent to Los Angeles for a routine investigation and accidentally discovers members of a cult who are anxiously anticipating the resurrection of their leader, a powerful sorcerer named Nix. You see, Dorothea Swann, a woman who is married to an illusionist who disguises his real magical powers as mere tricks, killed Nix over a decade ago and now fears that her husband's life may be in danger because the cult members are out for revenge. Dorothea hires D'amour to protect both she and her husband from the dangerous, restitution-seeking group. D'amour complies, but his findings are far from what he expected.
