Weinstein Co. Inks Deal w/ Netflix

The Weinstein Company has struck a multi-year licensing deal with Netflix, making The Artist and other acclaimed films available for streaming on the site rather than a traditional pay TV release. Other titles include Madonna’s W.E., Coriolanus and Sarah’s Key. Click through for more details.

Safe House Reigns Supreme

Safe House continued its success by holding off the competition to top the box office this holiday weekend. The action thriller took home an estimated $28.4 million in its second week in release. The Vow dropped to 2nd earning $26.6 mil. Journey 2 held on to the 3rd spot with $26.4 mil, only a 3.4% percent drop from last week! Ghost Rider debuted in 4th while This Means War rounded out the top 5.

It’s just that kind of Friday. After the RED BAND trailer for Lionsgate’s Friends With Kids, be sure to watch this RED BAND trailer for the all new Jennifer Aniston/Paul Rudd comedy Wanderlust. The film comes from the wacky mind of David Wain and was written by Ken Marino. Universal brings Wanderlust to theaters on February 24th.
