Dana Andrews and Farley Granger portray brothers in a small Eastern town, working for their father's construction company. Miss McGuire is Andrew's wife, and Miss Dow, Granger's girlfriend. When Granger is drafted into the Army and Andrews, a veteran of World War II, is urged to return to the service for an important assignment overseas, the resulting family complications and romantic adjustments make for an absorbing modern drama.
