Friday The 13th Part IV The Final Chapter

R 1984 | 91 mins | Horror
Yes, the title of this fourth film in the franchise turned out to be a misnomer, but at the time, the filmmakers really thought this flick would be Jason's last - and it shows. Amping up both the suspense and gratuitous nudity, this is also arguably the most violent film in the series thus far -- with Jason slicing and dicing a total of thirteen unsuspecting victims (how appropriate). Also look for appearances by a young Crispin Glover and a very young Corey Feldman - who gets his Kojak on and shaves his head in preparation for the ultimate bloody showdown with Jason. But, the scariest part of all might just be Crispin's spastic '80s dance moves that could give "Seinfeld's" Elaine a run for her money.

Top 10 Fun Facts

  1. It may be called The Final Chapter, but guess what? It wasn't. The franchise was just too profitable for Paramount to let go.
  2. Three is the magic number... when you add ten. Perhaps in honor of everyone's favorite fateful Friday, the body count in this installment is - you guessed it - 13.
  3. Actor Ted White, who portrayed Jason, reportedly refused to talk to the other actors on set so they would maintain proper fear of his character. Method actor or downright diva? You make the call.
  4. White also insisted that his name be removed from the credits, claiming he only took the part for the money. What, and the role of "Thug" on that one episode of T.J. Hooker was purely for the art of it?
  5. Jason Voorhees may be a ruthless killer, but Ted White turned out to be a pretty nice guy during filming (you know, besides the whole not talking to anybody thing). When actress Judie Aronson got so cold she broke into tears while filming the raft scene, White threatened to quit if the director didn't let her take a break to warm up. The director listened, Aronson avoided hypothermia, and they all lived happily ever until the next take.
  6. White, a seasoned stunt man, also stuck up for the actor who played Doug - requesting a pad be placed behind his head before "Jason" rammed him against a shower wall. And they say chivalry is dead...
  7. Speaking of the shower scene, keep an eye on Doug's hair - when our point of view is inside the shower, his hair is wet. But when we're looking into the shower from outside, it's dry.
  8. Eat your heart out, Tony Manero: a young Crispin Glover turned heads with his righteous dance moves in the film. Although the song was replaced in the final cut, during filming Glover was apparently rocking out to AC/DC's "Back in Black."
  9. Check your calendar: Pamela Voorhees's tombstone reads "1930-1979," but in the original film, she dies on Friday, June 13th. June 13th, 1979 was a Wednesday.
  10. Rumor has it that make-up artist Tom Savini, who came up with the look for Jason in the first film, only agreed to work on The Final Chapter so he could kill off the monster he created. Better luck next time, Tom.
