Synopsis
If you can sit through Ang Lee's 1994 romantic dramedy without ordering out for pot stickers, you're either a paragon of self-restraint or you've got the stomach flu. Master chef Chu has lost his wife, and with her, his sense of taste – but still he cooks, because in his world food is love, food is communication, food is life itself. The only thing more vivid than Chu's delectable cavalcade of dishes are his three daughters, each searching for romance in their daily lives and sorting out the mess at Sunday dinner. For the Mexican-American version, see 2001's adaptation Tortilla Soup.
