Synopsis
Over the decades, there have been many incarnations of Robert Downey Jr. The Brat-Pack era party-boy, the addict arrested after falling asleep in a stranger’s home and the brilliant actor who somehow manages to charm audiences with nearly every performance. No film captures Downey’s ability to transform into a character more than Chaplin – a 1992 biopic about the original bad boy of motion pictures. The story traces Charlie’s rise, controversies and exile from the US after being dogged for years by the FBI for alleged socialist ties. Chaplin fans will revel in witnessing the birth of his iconic persona, The Tramp. And if you just like a juicy Hollywood scandal, this movie is ripe with them, and Chaplin himself could teach Downey a thing or two about riding the roller coaster of fame.
