Detective Don Morrell thinks he can finally close a painful chapter in his life when he witnesses the state execution of the serial killer Claude Whitman. But when members of the jury that delivered the death sentence fall victim to a series of brutal ritualistic murders littered with cryptic messages, Morrell recognizes distinct characteristics of Whitman's handiwork.
