Synopsis
Michael Douglas versus the Japanese mafia - thanks to director Ridley Scott, it's everything you'd dream it to be. As a xenophobic New York cop, Douglas and his partner Andy Garcia take on organized crime in 1980s Osaka, where a fish-out-of-water's only defense is an American-made can of whoop ass. The Yakuza are a wily bunch, though, and it takes the street smarts of Yankee barmaid Kate Capshaw to show Douglas the way. Jackie Chan reportedly turned down a role in the film, fearing it would be too dark for his heroic screen image; whether that's a good or bad thing is up to you.
