Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey

Synopsis

Just when you thought all the righteous dudes and babes were safely being excellent to one another, Bill and Ted get murdered by robot doppelgangers!  Yes, in this 1991 sequel to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) and Alex Winter (The Lost Boys) return as San Dimas teens Bill S. Preston and "Ted" Thedore Logan.  But this time, instead of traveling throughout history to meet Napoleon and Socrates, they're forced to play Battleship and Twister with the Grim Reaper.   Bill and Ted must not only cheat death and destroy their evil twins, but also conquer a new rival - one who's set on destroying them and their attempt to win a battle of the bands contest.  George Carlin returns as Rufus and Pam Grier does a cameo because, well, why wouldn't she?   Get ready for a good laugh and party on!

Top 10 Fun Facts

  1. Originally, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey was supposed to be called Bill & Ted Go To Hell but the word "hell" upset the public so the filmmakers changed it. You'd think if they used it in the Bible it could be used in a movie title, but I guess not.
  2. In Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, Bill and Ted played a number of games with the Grim Ripper. The games were Battleship, Clue, NFL Super Bowl Electric Football, and Twister (but not naked Twister).
  3. In Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, Missy and her friends try to send Bill and Ted's ghosts to hell by chanting "Ed and Chris will rule the world" backwards. Ed and Chris wrote the film's script. A commendable attempt, but they still don't rule the world.
  4. Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey writer Ed Soloman married into royalty, comedy royalty. He is married to John Cleese's daughter, Cynthia.
  5. In Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, Ted's hair-brained attempt to get into Heaven included quoting lyrics to eighties hair-band Poison's song "Every Rose has its Thorn."
  6. When it came time to name the evil character from the future in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, the writers didn't have to look far for inspiration: they just took writer/producer Ed Solomon's name and spelled it backwards. And thusly, De Nomolos was born.
  7. Sir James Martin is played by real-life guitarist "Big" Jim Martin, from the band Faith No More. In the film, he's the head of the Faith No More Spiritual and Theological Center. Wonder where they came up with the idea for that one.
  8. Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey Director Peter Hewitt cast himself as a smoker to whom Death says, "I'll see you soon." However, he did not give himself any credit for his work. In the film's credits the character is listed as being played by "Max Magenta."
  9. Actor William Sadler's stint as Death in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey would not be the last time he played that role. He would reprise the "character" in television's "Tales from the Crypt."
  10. Being the creators of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey had numerous perks. Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon included numerous references to themselves throughout the movie and went as far as casting themselves in the séance scene.
